Les Arcs Classical Music Festival

The 44th les Arcs Academy-Festival will be held from 16 July to 1st August.

The programme will be centred on Italian music and will introduce festival-goers to:

- the countless composers of the 17th and 18th centuries: not only Vivaldi and Scarlatti, but also Locatelli, Corelli, Boccherini, Tartini etc...
- those who are less played from the 20th and 21st centuries such as Maderna, Berio, Donatoni, Francesconi and Sciarino,
- the works of the major composers of chamber music such as Paganini and Rossini, as well as the less well known - but no less interesting! – such as Bottesini, Busoni, Martucci, Cherubini, Respigghi and other composers.

Highlights of the 2017 festival :

✔ A continuation of the « Schubertiades », concerts of 1 hour based on the sonatas, trios, lieder, quartets and other works by the genius from Vienna.
✔ The Bach Day, 28 July, in the Vernettes Chapel perching at an altitude of 1900 metres!
✔ An evening about paraphrasing and transcribing Italian works.
Franck Krawczyk’s adaptation of Mozart’s « Cosi fan tutte ».
✔ An evening devoted to the harp: «the harp in all its forms »

 

And numerous surprises...

As for the Academy, there will be more than 200 young trainee musicians from all over the world who will be honing their skills alongside 40 renowned international teachers, an instrument maker and a bowmaker!

Concerts and workshops as well as concerts for young audiences centred on Caplet’s Mask of the Red Death are on the programme.
« Max’s talks », proper listening comments to help the listener explore the Festival’s programme.

The oenological concert which brings together musical works and wines from Savoie and elsewhere will also make an appearance much to everyone’s pleasure!

Les Arcs Classical Music Festival

The 43rd les Arcs Academy-Festival will be held from 18 July to 3 August.

The programme will be centred on three principal themes :

- Paris in the post war period and its artistic vanguard through the theme of the « Group of six »:Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and Germaine Taillefer, surrounding Jean Cocteau.
- From Bach to Schoenberg, with « Schubertiade » almost daily, to the composers of our time; the Festival will introduce you to the large repertoire of chamber music through 40 scheduled free concerts.
- Jean Frédéric Neuburger, the French pianist and composer will be in les Arcs. Ten of his works including a composition for piano four hands will be performed.

Highlights of the 2016 festival :

A day dedicated to Henri Dutilleux on the occasion of the centenary of his birth: lectures, film screenings and concerts will be dedicated to his music;
A special Bach and his concerts day in the les Vernettes Chapel perching at an altitude of more than 1900 metres !
An evening devoted to film music ;
Concerts for young audiences, lectures and guided tours of les Arcs.
A concert devoted to the harp with carte blanche to Olivier Baumont (harpsichord) and Bruno Maurice (accordion).

 

And numerous surprises...

On the Academy side, there will be more than 200 young apprentice musicians from all over the world who will be improving throughout the Festival with the help of 40 renowned international teachers.

Lastly, the singing contingent and its 25 lyrical artistes will be giving 2 concerts one of which is a transcription by Jean Frédéric Neuburger of Maurice Ravel’s L’Heure Espagnole.

Nearly forty chamber music concerts will be stirring music lovers and festival goers from 19 July to 02 August 2015!

On the theme of « classical music to inspire the people », the 42nd festival will feature big names in the field such as Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Schumann and specifically will play host to the Czech composer Krystof Maratka, who will present several of his works at various concerts which will include his latest compositions.

Lectures, workshops, master classes (with more than 200 students) and concerts for young audiences will once again punctuate these 2 weeks of musical sensation and cultural discovery. Don’t hold back – enjoy!

Music Festival

Between 19 July and 03 August, holidaymakers and music lovers are invited to combine relaxation with festivities in les Arcs!

With nearly 40 free concerts and more than 80 artistes of international renown, the 41st Les Arcs Music Festival promises a programme worthy of the largest international Festivals cradled in its natural setting at an altitude of 1800 metres facing Mont Blanc!

On the theme of Spanish chamber music, the 41st festival will introduce you to the four major composers who marked the renaissance of Spanish music at the end of the 19th Century and the beginning of the 20th: Albeniz, Granados, Falla and Turina.

Lectures, workshops, Master-classes (with more than 200 participants) and concerts for young audiences will punctuate these 2 weeks of musical emotion and cultural discoveries! Don’t stint yourself! Enjoy it
