Maison de la pomme (apple centre)

The Maison de la Pomme, in the Village of la Chal-Hauteville-Gondon, is open every day. Unguided tours free of charge.

From the Aime to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the apple is part of local history, alongside the pastoral economy. The apple, a providential and rustic fruit, was used in the making of cider, creating sweet and savoury dishes and for feeding pigs. Reinettes and Franc-Roseau were even exported. In this way, this arboriculture ensured varied production over eleven out of twelve months.

The little apple centre in la Chal, near Bourg-Saint-Maurice, will enable you to get to know this inestimable heritage and to find out about the great conservation orchard project which is being set up in the Tarentaise.
