Snow cover in Les Arcs: guaranteed skiing all season long

Thanks to the altitude of the mountain area, snow is on the agenda from December to the end of April.

With 70% of the runs located above 2,000 m and a highest point at 3,226 m, our resort in the Northern Alps guarantees exceptional snow cover throughout the winter.

Whether you’re a powder lover, a spring-skiing fan, or simply seeking snowy landscapes, Les Arcs offers ideal conditions to ski without worrying about snow.

Optimal snow conditions thanks to altitude

Unfortunately, we can’t answer THE question that comes back every year:

- “Will there be snow this winter?”
- “I’m coming the 2nd week of February to Arc 1800, will there be snow?”

Even if we love observing the signs of nature the old-timers remind us of…

- Lots of wasps in summer? That’s a good sign!
- Gentians growing high? Expect nice white slopes.
- An onion with a thousand layers? Get your skis ready, it’ll be a long season.
- Generous hazelnut trees? Winter will be just as generous.
- Lots of snow at Coronet Peak in July? That’s a good sign!

Superstition or science? No one knows… But what’s certain is that the numbers don’t lie!
70% of the Les Arcs ski area is located above 2,000 m, guaranteeing quality snow all winter long.
The area stretches from Villaroger (1,200 m) to Aiguille Rouge (3,226 m), with favourable exposure and an efficient snowmaking network, ensuring ski-in/ski-out.

Every year, more than 200 km of pistes are open, with solid snowfall totals:

Snowfall total at 2,000 m by mid-April:

- 2025: 560 cm
- 2024: 627 cm
- 2023: 272 cm
- 2022: 330 cm

And for over 10 years, the area has closed at the end of April, with enough snow to guarantee ski-in/ski-out right up to the last day.
