The perfect cast for your ski vacation

The snowy scene is set (with ski poles), the cinematic snow is here: action! The winter 24/25 ski season is about to begin! Have you already imagined the first slopes you'll race down, or the first fondue you'll devour? To make sure your plans don't turn into a drama, it's time to think about the cast for your vacation! Five people (+ you) is all it takes to create an unforgettable opening week. See you on December 14, 2024, with...

1. Someone to ski with (duh!)

It’s simple: without this person, the cast falls apart, and the vacation is canceled. You need a REAL skier. Someone who lives for the sound of skis slicing through fresh snow (not for the cameras). A friend who won’t stop every 50 meters to take a selfie. Nor embarrass you with a helmet-mounted action camera (“But it’s for an Insta reel! My followers will loooove it!”). This person knows the station opening dates, the slope map, and all the ski lift schedules by heart. In short: a reliable buddy.

The star casting version: we’d love to invite Lucas Bravo, but rumor has it he’ll be busy from December 14 to 21, 2024. Something about serving on the short film jury during the 16th edition of Les Arcs Film Festival… But we’re not giving up that easily! We’ll wander over to the Slope of Fame hoping to bump into him and immediately add him to the “Ski Vacation 2025” Whatsapp group.

2. Someone to enjoy a good fondue with

Paul? He's on a diet. Sabrina? Lactose intolerant. Béa? Extremely vegan. Focus: you’ll find that rare gem! The one who wields a fondue fork like a pro. A true cheese enthusiast. An unstoppable appetite, no special effects required. In short, someone who will help you seriously rank the best fondues served in the resort. Classic? With porcini mushrooms? Extra charcuterie on the side?

Star casting version: we’d dream of having a spirited debate with Pio Marmaï on the topic “fondue or raclette: which one wins?” Lucky for us, he’ll be there from December 14 to 21, 2024, for the 16th edition of the Les Arcs Film Festival. We’ll try to invite him to our table after the premiere of "L’Attachement"…

3. Someone to chat with on the chairlift

In other words: someone who doesn’t have the bad habit of isolating themselves with headphones during every ski session (“I’m listening to a running podcast, marathon prep, you know… but I’m still listening to you!”). No, you need someone with gossip, someone hilarious, someone who always seems to have wild adventures (and knows exactly how to tell the stories).

Star casting version: we’d love to listen to Camille Chamoux (our cinema ‘secret crush’) reenact all the iconic lines from Chataléré. LET’S work on our comebacks with our chatty buddy while waiting to hang on her every word as the president of the short films jury at the 16th edition of Les Arcs Film Festival.

4. Someone to dance on tables with during après-ski

You know that friend who can’t let go of their old DVD player, even though it’s barely functional after countless hours of watching "Sexy Dance", "Flashdance", and "Dirty Dancing" in the original version with subtitles? That’s the person you need! Someone who subtly moves their shoulders at the slightest note of music… before completely letting loose when the DJ seamlessly transitions into “their sooong!!!”.

The casting star version: how about an unexpected dance-off, ski boots on, with Karin Viard? Anything is possible: she’ll be at Les Arcs from December 14 to 21, 2024, hosting a masterclass during the 16th edition of the European film festival, Les Arcs Film Festival, following the screening of "Une Nuit" by Alex Lutz.

5. Someone to go to the movies with

Essential to kick off the winter season in Les Arcs! Because yes, December 14, 2024, marks the opening of the ski area. But it’s also the start of the 16th edition of the Les Arcs Film Festival. During the day, you’ll be on the slopes with that friend who knows how to ski (see point 1). But in the evening, you need someone who loves watching movies, any kind, as long as they’re in the original version with subtitles: romantic comedies, art films, docu-fiction, heart-wrenching dramas, animated films, quirky comedies... Or simply someone who loves Iceland, which is the highlight this year.

The star casting version: Audrey Diwan, of course! As the president of the feature film jury for the 16th edition of the Les Arcs Film Festival, she’d make the perfect movie partner—just as passionate as you are. Don’t forget your cinephile friend when leaving the cinema, though…
