No more old chairlifts where you had time to cool down after a great off-piste run or the legendary Aiguille Rouge descent (7 km and 2,000 m vertical drop)!
From December 2025, make way for a brand-new gondola: modern, fast and comfortable, with 10 seated places! In just 6 min 45 s, it links the bottom of Villaroger to the base of the Droset chairlift.
And that’s not all: at the gondola departure, a brand-new welcome area awaits with a ticket office, tourist office, ski school, ski locker, sports shop, grocery store, snack bar, restrooms and even a new car park. Perfect for asking a question, grabbing a coffee or catching your breath… without losing momentum ;)
More than 2 years of work are coming to an end!
This winter, discover Transarc with a capital T! After the renovation of the welcome area and the new gondola, make way for the final version of the mineral gallery and the new accessible terrace at the top of Transarc.
Already present last winter, this time the mineral gallery is stepping up to the next level!
An invitation to explore the links between humans and minerals (and yes, they’re not just “rocks,” as your science teachers might have said). After skiing, make way for discovery… then relaxation, with a new mineral-themed area featuring picnic tables, hot drinks and ski lockers.
Because “it’s always sunny above the clouds” (thank you Zaho de Sagazan), climb to the top of Transarc, Arcabulle or Plagnettes to discover this new contemplation area.
The Balcony Above the Clouds is a natural amphitheatre, perfect for getting out the picnic. While the kids play explorers with the giant binoculars, you can indulge in the great classic: “So, the peak we can see there—is that Bellecôte… or Aliet?!”
To avoid the famous scene from *Les Bronzés*: “I’m going, but I’m scared,” followed by “it’s fast… waaaay too fast”… then the fall, the mountain area has created a learning and awareness zone dedicated to speed.
The 3 proposed steps:
1. Test yourself
On a gentle, safe slope, learn the right stance and set off with confidence (bye-bye the “I’m going, but I’m scared”). A speed timer will display your pace.
2. Stoooop
Once you've started, the challenge is to stay in control until the end, with style and precision. Because going fast is good, but staying in control is even better. (Don't end up like Nathalie...)
3. The code of honour
After tasting the thrill of speed, remember: “learning you must not forget,” as Master Yoda would say. So take time to read and memorise the posted rules of good conduct.
To all beginners (and non-beginners), this winter the Arc 1600 slope (Animal Slope for those in the know) is getting an upgrade with loads of info about mountain animals! Perfect to avoid mixing up ibex and chamois in front of the experts…
