Snow is produced in autumn using water from the melting snow in spring, which is held in Europe’s biggest reservoir.
The area is equipped with 600 snow machines supplied with water by a 70-km network.
This "growing snow" is produced from compressed air and water sprayed under pressure at sub-zero temperatures.
The water comes from the reservoir of l L'Adret des Tuffs, based at Arc 2000. Its capacity is 400 000m³ and is filled in spring when the snow melt.
Snow production is well thought through and adheres to the seasons’ cycle.
