If you’re a family with young children  or novice walkers, we’ve made you a list of easy walking routes in les Arcs so you can appreciate walking in the mountains. Little or no height differential, minimal duration and shady paths for when it gets very hot. Follow the guides !

From Arc 2000 to the Notre Dame des Vernettes chapel, this balcony walk crosses the les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry slopes. Amongst mountains and little mountains, forests and Alpine pastures, the mainly sunny route is open onto the valley and offers an uninterrupted view from the Italian Alps to the Belledonne range. The Sanctuary of Notre Dame des Vernettes is dominated by the Aiguille Rousse, the Aiguille Grive and the Aliet Peak.

For guided tours of the chapel, sign up in one of the Tourist Offices.

Start: Arc 1600 or Arc 1800
Duration: 2 to 3 hours (depending on your departure point)

From the centre of Arc 1800, this route allows you to enjoy an exceptional view over the whole of the golf course and Mont-Blanc. After crossing the golf course, a walk amongst Alpine pasture chalets, farm animals and forests awaits you, a detour in the cool not to be missed. The view over the valley and the surrounding glaciers opens up as the walk progresses.

Start: Arc 1800
Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

This forest trail is a real breath of fresh air. Beautiful views over the peaks  open up along the walk with notably a panoramic view over the village of Séez, the resort of La Rosière and Mont Blanc as a backdrop. You’ll find plenty to delight your taste buds along the way: raspberries, bilberries, mushrooms etc.

Start: Arc 1600 or Arc 2000
Duration: 2 hours

The natural site of les Chapieux and the Vallée des Glaciers is a crossroads between the Beaufortain, the Mont Blanc Massif and the Tarentaise, a strategic position between France and Italy. Located on the legendary route of the «Tour du Mont Blanc», this itinerary of both great hikes and gentle walks offers magnificent scenery amidst preserved Alpine pastures and the immensity of the glaciers… a real ode to escapism! To safeguard this protected site, vehicle access is prohibited on the road between Les Chapieux and la Ville des Glaciers. Buses, for which a charge is made, are laid on during July and August, linking Bourg Saint Maurice, Les Chapieux and la Ville des Glaciers. Timetables are available in Tourist Offices and on our walking page.

Start: Les Chapieux
Duration: 2 hours

You walk along the Isère through ancient orchards and mountain meadows. Look round the village of la Chal and its apple museum,  where traditional apple juice is made on site. Finish in the great Tarentaise orchard: display panels, picnic and rest areas.

Start: Bourg Saint Maurice
Duration: 2 hours
