Le sentier des lacs

The five lakes

Gain some altitude and go on one of the most beautiful lakeside walks! Barely having arrived at the starting point, you will already be impressed. A period fort looks down over Alpine pastures full of goats and Tarine cows and a panoramic view over the les Arcs area stretches out before you – fabulous, isn’t it?

This walk takes you through a high mountain landscape at the heart of which 5 glacial lakes remain.

You have a choice of several alternative departure points. The walk begins at the Fort de la Platte (also known as Fort 2000). The more energetic can start from Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

  • Distance : 10km
  • Height difference : 1,197m
  • Difficulty : 5hrs (from the Fort de la Platte)

The lake path

On the heights of Arc 2000, this walk enables you to reach the lakes located on the upper part of the area. As a family or with friends, you will follow an easy path along which the scenery changes at each new lake. Lac de l’Homme, lac des moutons, lac Marlou...

Along the walk, you will come across our favourite mountain residents, young (and chubby) marmots who live in the Arc 2000 sector, along with cows on our friend Delphin’s Alpine pasture!

  • Distance : 9km
  • Height difference : 350m
  • Difficulty : 2hrs

THE LAC DE L’ETROIT

The perfect walk for very hot weather! The path runs under the shade of spruce trees with magnificent panoramic views of the Vanoise, the Upper Tarentaise and Mont-Blanc. A magnificent view over Mont Blanc and the valley unfolds at the end of the walk.

A fairly energetic walk at the end of which you emerge on the lac de l’Etroit, where the Alpine meadows will delight all ages!

  • Distance : 6km
  • Height difference : 780m
  • Difficulty : 3hrs

…So, which walk with a lake view will you choose?
