Every summer, it’s the same story: your kids have two months of vacation… but you don’t. Armed with your calendar, you start calculating: week 1 at the day camp, week 2 with cousins, weeks 3-4-5 with the family, week 6 at grandma and grandpa’s…
Except this year, your little ones are rebelling: “Grandma and grandpa’s is boring!” The solution? Move that week of vacation to Les Arcs! You’re convinced, your kids are convinced—now it’s time to get your parents on board… Expecting some hesitation? Here are 5 arguments to win them over at their own game.
Fair point. It’s true that as a child, you had a “complicated” relationship with hiking. Probably (definitely) because of the gear back then… Huge boots that weighed a ton (each), a backpack so big you could have fit inside it, and most of all, no alternative to the sacred contemplative hike.
Luckily, the mountains have changed. Goodbye heavy high-top boots: today, for a day hike, all you need is a pair of lightweight trail running shoes to gracefully fly over the trails. The backpack? It’s lost hundreds of grams while gaining in performance. And summer in the mountains is no longer just about hiking. It's also archery, trampolining, laser biathlon… and even circus activities!
So, that argument doesn't hold up. You would have loved hiking if you were a kid in 2025. And you would have loved all the other activities too. Next!
What you can’t tell your parents is that, honestly, you’re a bit out of touch too when it comes to the latest playground trends.
Two pieces of good news:
1. The timeless classics never go out of style (teens loved rafting in 1980, and they still love it in 2025)
2. There are professionals whose job it is to design activities that always hit the mark across all age groups, from little 4-year-olds to almost-grown-up 17-year-olds!
With the HERO PASS multi-activity card HERO PASS, all the kids’ favorite activities are brought together on one single pass: swimming pool, archery, trampoline, tennis, circus, mini-golf, slackline, laser biathlon, adventure course… No need to rack your brains anymore—just flow from one HERO activity to the next (only a few activities require booking, like the adventure courses, circus, or hiking for example).
– 3 HERO PASS multi-activity options: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, or the multi-pass Arc 1600 + Arc 1800 + Arc 2000 / activities vary depending on the pass
– Duration: 7 days (a one-day multi-pass is also available)
– You can also choose à la carte activities using credits from the HERO COOL pass
The perfect way to reassure grandma and grandpa: book a HERO CAMP pass for the week. The idea? From Monday to Friday, certified activity leaders supervise your kids in the mornings and afternoons (and even during lunch if your parents want to head out for a long hike), guiding them through a variety of age-appropriate activities.
For example, 4–5-year-olds can enjoy trampoline, treasure hunts, or adventure courses. Meanwhile, 8–10-year-olds might try archery, hiking with sled dogs, or ultimate frisbee. And teens aged 14–17 will experience whitewater sports, orienteering (with an overnight bivouac!), or mountain karting. While your parents take a nap—or relax in the Arc 1800 pool. Win-win!
- 5 age groups
- Monday to Friday, 9am–12pm and 2pm–5pm
- Access to many activities outside of supervised sessions as well.
Ah, parents… true drama queens. No one asked them to start ultra-trail running or downhill mountain biking, right? (Wait—they did? That was a mistake…)
Your argument in 3 points:
– The vast majority of activities designed for children don’t involve mountain hiking. They’re easily accessible right in the resorts—Arc 1600, Arc 1800, and Arc 2000. Need proof? Check out the activity map included with the HERO PASS.
– Not all hikes require mountain goat agility. Some are perfectly suited for little ones, like the Arollins trail (a 45-minute forest walk with charming little wooden characters), or the Homme Cairn trail (a 1-hour stroll with only 22 meters of elevation gain, featuring legendary figures sculpted into rock // NEW FOR 2025).
– Want to gain altitude without tripping on a rock or root? Just take the pedestrian lifts (included with the HERO PASS) straight up to the panoramic terraces! Once there, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Mont Blanc, the Bellecôte range, or the Aiguille Rousse—plus picnic tables and sun loungers to relax. Good to know: pedestrian lifts (chairlifts and gondolas) are accessible both up and down.
All good for you, grandparents?
You can understand your parents: at home, everything is easy! They have their routine, they go about their day while the kids play in the garden, maybe a short walk here and there, and their cozy bed waiting for them at night… It’s comfortable and reassuring.
And you know what’s just as comfortable and reassuring? An all-inclusive vacation in a holiday village with full board, wellness area, swimming pool, the whole package. Or, for the more reserved, an apartment stay with the same level of comfort as home. Everyone has their own room, the bakery is two minutes away, and activities are right at the doorstep… It couldn’t be easier. Just be sure to book near Arc 1800 if you’re planning to get a week-long HERO CAMP pass, as that’s where activities start and end. (Otherwise, there are shuttles—convenient, fast, and free!)
