Enak Gavaggio, Jérôme Elbrycht and the young people: a dynamic trio! Enak Gavaggio, freerider and member of Team Les Arcs, former ski crosser (5th at the Vancouver Olympics, and 7 victories in the X Games), was accompanied this year by a mentor of great stature: Jérôme Elbrycht. This wheelchair wakeboard and skiing champion, gold medallist at the X Games in seated ski cross (his first entry in this competition!) in January 2016, was able to lavish advice on the young ski crossers and share some special moments with them. Special moments with David PoissonDavid Poisson (bronze medallist at the World Downhill Championships in 2013) was back again at the GMX... for a trial of strength with the youngsters! The winners of the various runs were able to take on the downhiller, who had to warm up his muscles a hundred times! In honour of this skier’s presence, a David Poisson prize has been created. The youngsters who had a brush with the safety nets received...a tin of sardines! A mischievous wink which brought a smile to everyone’s lips.

The GMX: 1 course and multiple sports

- GMX CTC – Adrien Coirier Invitational

For the second year, Enak and <link http: en.lesarcs.com live athletes.html>Adrien Coirier, freerider in Team Les Arcs, had prepared a surprise for holidaymakers and locals: a race combining ski touring and skicross, in conjunction with the Community Touring Club (CTC). A brilliant success with those who skilfully blended raising the heels with raised corners!

<< A look back in pictures:

- GMX Team Relay

At the end of Thursday afternoon, the resort’s professionals and holidaymakers were able to face each other on the GMX course, fully intent on winning the much coveted title of «Best Team in les Arcs». 30 teams, more than a hundred adults, clashed elbows on the course. A team from ESF 1800 came in first, ahead of the piste patrols followed by a second team from ESF 1800.

Well done to all those who took part and see you next year!

7th Gavaggio Monster Cross

From 23 to 26 February 2016

From 23 to 26 February 2016, taste the delights of a sport as demanding as it is exciting: skicross!

An official Olympic event since 2010, skicross is one of the most looked forward to and most spectacular events in competition.

The principle of skicross is quite simple. It takes place in two phases: a qualifying phase and a final phase.

Enak GavaggioDuring qualifying, the competitors complete the course one by one and against the clock, in numerical order. Once qualifying is completed, it’s over to the skiers who have achieved the best times!

The competitors make a timed run over a fast and twisty piste, stuffed with banked turns, little jumps, downhill sections and rough slopes.

The skiers race each other over the course four at a time as fast as possible. The first two in each heat qualify for the next round until the final race before reaching the podium!

This 7th running of the GMX is going to be highly colourful and 4 days of competition will once again take place under the watchful eye of Enak Gavaggio, our icon of skicross.
