1.30pm - Meet at the Igloo Village for a Welcome Coffee (at the bottom of the Arcabulle chairlift) - Arc 2000
The Arc 2000 reservoir, known as the l’Adret des Tuffes, was completed at the start of winter 2008-2009. At an altitude of 2,200 m and with 400,000 m3 of water, it is the largest in Europe.
This artificial lake is used to supply the resort's network of produced snow and guarantee snow cover in the Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry ski area.
Our enthusiastic experts are looking forward to meeting you to share and discuss the indispensable ecological objectives of their work.
1/ GUIDED TOUR OF THE "JUST SNOW" PRODUCTION PLANT
How and when is snow produced? Why is it produced? And is it so different from its natural counterpart?
2/ PRESENTATION OF THE PLANTING OF VEGETATION ON THE BANKS OF THE ARC 2000 RESERVOIR
With a view to improving biodiversity, the renaturation of the banks of the Tuffes reservoir is an essential issue. The choice of plant species is important to ensure that they integrate properly with the altitude and the existing gravel pit.
