Try your hand at ski touring to explore the mountains in a different way!

Try ski touring for a different way of getting about the mountains!

Ski touring is the way to get up the steep slopes at the heart of the Alpine landscape like a mountaineer. «Seal skins» fitted under the skis for the climb enable you to lift your heel and turn happily!
There’s no need to panic when going downhill. All you have to do is take off the skins, lock the heels and enjoy Alpine skiing as you know it.

As for equipment?

You will need:

- A pair of light and above all short touring skis

- A pair of the ski touring bindings

-  A pair of ski touring boots

-  Self-adhesive seal skins

Hiking equipement such as a ruckack for carrying your skis if necessary, suitable clothing...

- Not forgetting: shovel, probe et ARVA for when you venture off the marked pistes

Descriptif

Ski touring course in Arc 1600 : La Pierre Blanche 2

The route starts above the Mont Blanc chairlift departure point in Arc 1600. If you are coming from the funicular, take the metal stairs and pass in front of the doctor's surgery; the track starts on the left, at the end of the car park.

Follow the piste for about 50 metres and then turn left to go back up under the Mont Blanc chairlift.

From there, you will go up against the direction of the Arpette piste: stay on the left edge and as far as possible outside the markers. The piste passes the Sanglier qui Fume restaurant and then behind the Hôtel du Ridge. Shortly afterwards the track goes to the right, into the forest to join the footbridge of the Club Méditerranée. Cross the Arpette track and go into the forest.

After just over a kilometre you will come to the edge of the Mont Blanc piste.

You will stay on the left edge of the track, sometimes on the edge, sometimes in the forest.

One last slope and you are at the end of the trail, the Mont Blanc plateau.

The descent is made by the Mont Blanc piste
