In the heart of the Haute Tarentaise, the Vallée des Chapieux, followed by the Vallée des Glaciers, is a wild and authentic site, full of surprises. Lively and unspoilt, from June onwards it welcomes herds of goats, sheep and Tarines and Abundance cows, creating a veritable pastoral symphony. At La Ville des Glaciers, discover authentic local produce: Beaufort d'alpage, tomme, Sérac, goat's cheeses, butter... A feast for the taste buds, guaranteed by the typicality of the region.
With breathtaking views of the Aiguille des Glaciers, the highest peak of Bourg-Saint-Maurice (3,817 m) and located along the famous Tour du Mont Blanc, it offers adventures for all levels. Whether you are with family or an experienced hiker, the trails will lead you through awe-inspiring landscapes. Take a break in mountain huts such as the Refuge Robert Blanc to recharge and enjoy the famous blueberry tart while watching marmots. The climbing spots at Séloge provide unique challenges, sometimes accompanied—if you are lucky—by majestic eagles or bearded vultures soaring above.
Rich in history, the valley invites you to follow in the footsteps of smugglers, crystal seekers, and peddlers who once roamed these mountains. In Séloge, discover the remains of bunkers, reminders of a time of resistance and struggle.
The Vallée des Glaciers awaits you for an unforgettable adventure, where every step reveals a new treasure to discover.
Don't rely on your GPS to find your way, and don't expect to be able to make your most important calls, as you'll find yourself in a white zone with no network.
To protect the beautiful ecosystem of the Chapieux valley, the litter bins have been removed. The aim of this measure is to prevent rubbish being blown about by the wind or bad weather, to encourage selective sorting and to make hikers aware of their responsibilities by encouraging them to take their rubbish with them.
