Born from the richness of the Haute-Tarentaise territory, local products and know-how tell, above all, a story of the mountains. Until the middle of the 20th century, the agro pastoral system was adapted to the difficult conditions of the mountains: exploitation of mountain pastures, dairy farming for the production of different cheeses (Beaufort “Prince des Gruyères”, Tomme, etc.). In each village, there was a great diversity of craft activities of which many testimonies remain.

Upper-Tarentaise Cooperative Dairy

Located in Bourg Saint Maurice, the cooperative brings together 52 producers who put their passion at the service of an exceptional product, Beaufort AOP, a Savoyard cheese with incomparable qualities. These producers ensure the preservation of the Abondance and Tarine cow breeds. The milk collected raw and whole gives Beaufort cheese all the richness of the aromas of the high mountain flora. A Cooperative building entirely dedicated to promoting Beaufort AOP!

An exhibition: IMMERSION IN THE WORLD OF BEAUFORT

In this museum space on 2 floors, we discover through an innovative, fun and educational journey, accessible to all, the history of agropastoralism in Haute Tarentaise (the territory and its people), as well as the manufacture of Beaufort AOP. Videos, displays, interactive terminals, sound and olfactory diffusers and virtual reality punctuate the walk, to offer the visitor total immersion!

A Boutique: elegant and innovative to discover regional grocery products, a large display of cheeses from local producers and also a beautiful wine cellar. A place to taste the flavors of Haute Tarentaise! Awakening the taste buds, an extraordinary experience offered to visitors.
